You are getting ready for one of the biggest learning adventures of your life!!
Planning a trip around the world takes tons of preparation!! Organizing everything you need to do before the journey is really important. So in your preparations, you will be following a checklist...
Preparation Checklist:
~ discover exciting information about how the coordinate grid was invented
~ demonstrate the ability to write a clear and concise summary about information read
~ learn how to read and use coordinate grids using online and offline activities
~ practice using reference sources (reviewing latitude and longitude with an atlas and recording important facts from an encyclopedia)
When you have completed everything on your checklist, you will board the plane and tell the pilot where you would like to travel. Make sure you have your camera because you will be taking lots of pictures. You will pick your most fascinating aerial view picture for which to create your own coordinate grid on paper and on the computer! Throughout this WebQuest, you will work by yourselves at times, but mostly practice cooperative learning skills with a partner from another classroom or someone from your own classroom for whom you usually don't work. Getting along with someone you don't know very well will help you in your travels to "foreign" places.
Because your trip around the world will be so exciting, many of you will want to convince other people why it is so important to understand and use coordinate grids!! You will get to join with another set of partners to brag about your journey. |
