Task* Using the websites in this webquest, research the history of chocolate. * Create a new candy bar. * Develop a slogan for your candy bar. * Advertise your new candy bar by creating a poster with your candy bar and slogan.
Process
Here is what you will do: 1. Form a team with three other students. 2. Research the site:http://www.hersheys.com/discover/chocolate.asp and answer the following questions: * What are the ingredients in making chocolate? * How are candy bars formed? *What is the main ingredient in chocolate? 3. Visit the following web sites: * www.5starchocolates.com/history/ * www.exploratorium.edu/chocolate/live.html 4. Create a recipe for a new candy bar including all ingredients. 5. Develop an advertisement for your candy bar, write a slogan, and make a poster.
EvaluationThere will be an overall teamwork grade based on the following rubric.
ConclusionChocolate is an amazing subject! You have learned about the history of chocolat, and how it is manufactured. You've even explored starting your own chocolate business. Yet there is much more you can learn about chocolate. Perhaps the next time you eat a chocolate candy bar, it will be an entirely new experience.
